Royal Collection

I am thrilled to announce that my watercolour “Timepiece” has been accepted into the Royal Collection Trust of King Charles III at Windsor Castle. It is one of 25 pieces selected by jury that will complete a gift of 100 paintings from the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, a project that commenced in 1985 and will now be completed in celebration of the CSPWC's 100th anniversary.

(Excerpt from the CSPWC website)

“The Royal Collection Project will be a body of one hundred contemporary Canadian watercolours housed within The Royal Collection of King Charles III. Along with most of the Royal Collectionʼs works on paper they reside in the Royal Library at Windsor Castle and are under the administrative care of the Royal Librarian.

The 75 paintings currently in the Royal Collection Project comprise the single largest Canadian component within The Royal Collection. It has been compiled in two phases by the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC/SCPA). These phases marked the societyʼs sixtieth and seventy-fifth anniversaries which were celebrated in 1985 and 2000, respectively.

To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the CSPWC, the Society will be gifting the final 25 paintings to the Royal Collection.

Since this is the final phase of the project it was my sole chance to be a part of this prestigious and historic collection. It is a career milestone, and an honour to be included in this select group of Canadian watercolourists. The jury was comprised of 15 jurors including Martin Clayton, Head of Prints and Drawings - Royal Collection Trust and Alice de Quidt, Assistant Curator - Royal Collection Trust.

There are several exhibits planned for these final 25 selected works while they are still in Canada, including an exhibition at the Arts and Letters Club in Toronto, coinciding with the 100th CSPWC Anniversary Gala on November 8, 2025.

The 25 paintings will be available for viewing online in early January 2025, as the CSPWC celebrates the beginning of their centennial anniversary. Congratulations to all of the other successful artists and to the @cspwc_scpa on this milestone achievement, 40 years in the making!
