Walking in London at night brings an endless array of references to mind from Dickens to werewolves. There is a magical mystery (sorry about that) about the rain-slicked cobblestones of Soho reflecting colourful store fronts and warm light emanating from pubs. The eye travels in and out of the shadows and settles on the giant shadow cast by a bicycle leaning on the cast iron fence. The ultramarine sky adds depth and is a foil to the warm tones of the mid and foreground. The building in the background is reference from another façade a few streets over, but it was more interesting to me than the characterless post-war building that is actually there.
