“An ascent up the quartzite ledges and scree gullies to Abbott Pass Hut affords a heart-stopping view of the valley and peaks of Yoho National Park. I hoped to capture the precariousness of position and weather so often experienced in the Rockies. Standing on the pass looking over the drop with an autumn storm rolling in, wind howling, and holding on to the side of the hut for stability is an experience I’ll never forget.  The last bit of light warms the shoulders of Glacier and Ringrose peaks, grazes the Schaeffer Range, and leaves Mt. Biddle in shadow. The contrasts of warm and cool colours and a wide value range create visual tension and emphasize the graphic quality of the mountains."
